The Cemetery has created a searchable web-based map that allows the visitor to locate a grave in the Cemetery.
After clicking the link below, the map will be displayed. The map may take a minute or two to load. A yellow banner may be displayed at the top of the screen alerting you of an Active X component that wants to start. The site uses an Active X program to allow you to zoom into the map and to search for a grave.
On the upper left side of the screen, a small map will be displayed. To the right of the small map, there will be a zoom tool that allows you to zoom in to the map to view the map more closely. Click on the + to zoom in, the - to zoom out, or on one of the bars in the middle to go directly to a specific zoom level. As you zoom in, a red box will appear on the small map showing the area of the map that is viewed on the right part of the screen.
Below the Zoom tools, there is an area where you can enter a name or part of a name to search. Press Enter or click the Go button next to the text area to start the search. If names are found, they will be listed below the search text area. Clicking on the name(s) will display an arrow on the large map. If you are zoomed in, the map will move to the grave and display the arrow just below the grave, in the middle of the screen.

Information for the Cemetery has been derived from several sources: newspaper listings, obituaries, the
Cemeteries of Island Grove book, published by the
Sangamon County Genealogical Society, as well as cemetery records.
